Why We Never Discount MAVRA | Black Friday & Permanent Objects
We Don't Do Black Friday. Here's Why.
Every year, the same question arrives with the season: is MAVRA running a Black Friday sale? The answer has been the same every year, and it isn't going to change. No. Not this year, not next year. Here's the actual reason, not the marketing version of it.
A DISCOUNT IS A PROMISE ABOUT TOMORROW
When something goes 40% off, it's making a quiet claim: the real price was inflated, or the object is worth less next week than it is today. Neither of those is true of an object built to be permanent. A piece that's actually going to sit on your shelf for a decade doesn't lose a third of its value between Thursday and Friday. If it did, that would say something uncomfortable about what it was worth on Wednesday.
WHAT DISCOUNTING WOULD ACTUALLY SAY
Discounting a permanent object teaches the person buying it to see it as disposable — something you grab because the price dropped, not because the object earned its place. That's the opposite of what we're trying to build. A skull candle set isn't a seasonal impulse. It's not supposed to compete with a countdown timer for your attention. It's supposed to be there long after the timer expires.
THE THREE PIECES, PRICED ONCE
The skull candle set, the skull lamp, and the skull wall decor are priced the same in November as they are in March. Not because we're stubborn about margins — because the price is the price. It reflects what the object actually is, not what a calendar date says it should be marked down to.
If it's worth less tomorrow, it wasn't permanent today.
WHAT WE DO INSTEAD
We put the effort into the object instead of the markdown — the wax certification, the weight of the base, the shadow the lamp actually throws. That's where the value lives. Not in a sale banner that disappears on Monday, but in something that still looks exactly as right a year from now as it does the day it arrives.
THE PRICE STAYS. THE OBJECT STAYS LONGER.
That's the trade we're making with you. No countdown, no urgency manufactured by a date on a calendar. Just an object priced honestly, built to still matter long after this week is over.
